Ninety minutes on court with a senior coach: twenty minutes of live rallying, every stroke looked at once, a movement screen, a drill pitched deliberately above the player’s level, and half an hour of proper points. It ends with ten minutes of conversation. Nothing is decided on the court — every trial is discussed at the Monday coaching meeting and you receive a written assessment within a week.

Trainers with a flat sole, a water bottle, and whatever they normally train in. Rackets and balls are loaned free to any junior who does not have their own, for as long as they need them. There is no academy kit requirement at any stage, including the full-time programme, and no joining fee.

Missed sessions are not refunded or carried over, because the coach and the court are booked either way. A player away for four weeks or more with a medical note may pause their fees, and their place is held for the length of the term. If a session is cancelled by us, it is rescheduled within the same term.

Nothing. Four indoor courts under a nine-metre roof and six floodlit clay courts mean ten of our twelve courts play year-round. We have never cancelled a camp day or a squad session for weather since the indoor roof went up in 2001.

Six children per coach in the junior pathway, with two coaches on court for the youngest groups. Performance squads run at four players per coach, and the full-time elite programme at four players per coach across two daily court blocks. Adult groups are capped at six and matched by standard.

Yes, from the covered loggia above court one, for any session. We ask one thing: that coaching during a session comes from the coach only. A child being taught by two voices at once learns from neither. There is also an open coaching day every half-term when parents come onto the court to see the drills and hear the language being used.

Three terms a year — autumn, spring and summer — with half-term camps and holiday programmes booked separately. The junior pathway takes two weeks’ notice to change or leave a group. Squads take one month’s notice, and the full-time elite programme one term, because groups and coaching hours are planned a term ahead.

Every coach on the staff holds an enhanced DBS check, renewed every three years, and completes LTA safeguarding training annually. Nadia Osei is the safeguarding lead for junior programmes and Gill Anstey for the academy as a whole. Any concern can be raised with either of them directly, or in writing to the director of tennis. Our safeguarding policy is available at the clubhouse desk and by email on request.

Squad players plan eight to twelve events a year with their coach, and a Rowan Hall coach attends the ones that matter. Coach travel costs are shared between the travelling players. For the full-time programme, tournament entry fees, flights and accommodation sit outside the monthly fee and are invoiced separately. Debriefs happen the day after a match, not in the car park.

Twelve equal monthly payments by direct debit, collected on the first of the month, or a term paid in advance. Nothing changes over the holidays — the annual fee is spread evenly. Camps, tournament entries and kit are invoiced separately and paid on booking.

Fees already paid for a term are credited against the next block rather than refunded. Camp places transfer to another date free of charge with seven days’ notice; inside seven days the fee is held as credit. Fees are paused from the date our physio signs an injury note, and the place is held for the term.

Sibling discount of 10% on the second and every further child. Adult members joining as a pair pay 90% each. Full-Time Elite families paying a term in advance receive 3% off. Three part-funded places on the elite programme are awarded each year at assessment, decided by a panel that includes a former Rowan Hall player.

Elite players train in two court blocks a day and are schooled on site in the afternoon, to A-level, in the study centre above court one. Most take three subjects. Boarding is available in the Hall on a weekly or full basis, quoted separately from the training fee. Families moving from mainstream school are put in touch with two current elite parents before they commit.
