Who it is for
The player this is built for
The elite programme is for players who have decided that tennis comes first. They hold a national ranking or an LTA rating of 5.1 and better, they play a full tournament calendar, and they need schooling, physical work, physio and travel arranged around that calendar rather than against it. Entry is by assessment week; twelve places are held at any one time.
Weekly schedule
A week in the programme
A standard Monday to Friday. Saturday is a match or travel day; Sunday is a full rest day unless a player is competing.
Coaching structure
How the coaching is organised
Four players to a coach on court, with a lead coach for each athlete and a weekly meeting between the tennis, physical and medical staff. Nothing about a player’s week is decided by one person alone.

Strength & conditioning
The work off the court
Six hours of athletic work a week, planned in blocks against the tournament calendar. Every athlete is screened at the start of each block and retested at the end, and the results decide what the next block contains.
Match & tournament programme
Where players compete
Elite players compete twenty to thirty weeks a year. The tournament plan is written in September and revised each block, and a Rowan Hall coach travels to every target event.

Questions
Before you
ask us
The things parents and players ask most often about full-time elite.
Players spend five days on the full programme: both court blocks, S&C, a physical test battery and match play against current elite players. The staff meet on the Friday and a written decision follows within a week.
Only if a place opens. We hold twelve places and will not run above that number. Assessment weeks are in February and June.
Work travels with the player and a tutor meets them online twice a week. Exam years are protected: we plan the tournament calendar around GCSE and A-level dates.
No. Around half the players board; the rest live within an hour of Rowan Hall and travel daily.
Families do. Coach travel is shared between the players on each trip, and the office issues a costed itinerary before you commit to an event.
Three part-funded places are awarded each year on the basis of the assessment week and household circumstances. Ask the office for the form when you apply.
