Reena Chandra joins the academy this month as performance nutritionist, working two days a week with the twelve full-time players. She is SENr-registered and comes to Rowan Hall from a county cricket academy, where she ran the nutrition programme for the under-18 squad.

Her brief is practical: matchday and travel nutrition for a programme that competes twenty to thirty weeks a year, and a termly session for boarding players and their parents. The elite programme’s weekly staff meeting now has tennis, physical, medical and nutrition in the same room.

Squad families will meet her at the half-term open coaching day, where she is running a short session on eating around evening training.
