BACKGROUND
What Ellis works on
Ellis priced sports markets at two bookmakers before moving to the other side of the desk. He started Oddsmark in 2021 as a monthly spreadsheet of Premier Division margins, sent to about four hundred readers, after finding that every site claiming to rank bookmakers on price was ranking them on commission. He wrote the scoring rubric in 2022 and fixed the current weights in 2024. His work is mostly arithmetic: converting prices into implied probabilities, timing withdrawals to the minute, and publishing the results whether or not they suit the businesses that fund the site.
- Holds no equity in any gambling operator, declared annually. Formerly employed by two bookmakers, neither currently in our guide. Does not accept hospitality, gifts or press trips from operators.
