Tester scores

The person who ran the measurements scores the category against the published rubric.

Second reader checks

A different member of the team re-checks the figures and challenges any score more than one point from the field average.

Head of Testing signs off

No score is published without sign-off, and the sign-off is recorded against the review date.

Published with a byline

The writer is named on the page. Corrections are noted publicly with a date.

WRITER STANDARDS

Four rules every byline is held to

Nobody writes about an operator they hold shares in

Declared annually, and no member of the team currently holds any gambling-sector equity.

No gifts, no hospitality, no press trips

Accounts are opened with our own money and closed at our own expense.

No writer sees the commercial rates

The people who score an operator are not told what it pays us.

Every figure is traceable to a measurement

If a number cannot be traced back to a logged test, it does not get published.

Contributors

Writing for us

We take a small amount of freelance work, mostly on sports we do not cover in depth. The terms are the same as for staff, and they are not negotiable.
