Hexa signs through 2028 as Polaris Black reach a third straight LAN final

The captain’s new deal runs to the end of the 2028 season and includes a coaching role from 2029 — announced two days before the biggest match of his Polaris career.

Hexa has signed a contract extension that keeps him at Polaris until the end of the 2028 season, the org confirmed on Tuesday. The deal, agreed during the circuit playoffs, also sets out a transition into a coaching role from 2029.

The captain joined in 2020, four months after the Call of Duty division was founded, and has played every competitive map since. He led the roster to the 2025 Winter Circuit title and to three consecutive LAN finals — the third of which takes place on Saturday against Veridian Nine.

“The plan was always to finish here. I told Ray after the semi-final that I wanted the next two seasons in this jersey, and then the room after that.”

Head coach Ray Molnar described the extension as the most straightforward negotiation the division has had. “He is the reason the room works,” Molnar said. “The calls, the reviews, the standard he sets in scrims. Signing him for two more seasons is the easy part — the coaching plan for 2029 is what we spent the time on.”

What it means for the roster

The extension leaves four of the five Call of Duty players contracted beyond 2027. Prim and Dax signed through 2027 last winter; Nol arrived in 2024 on a three-year deal. Only substitute Ryu is on terms that expire at the end of this season.

It also settles a question that had followed the roster since the world final: whether the captain would move to a side with a larger travel budget. Two regional organisations approached Polaris in June, according to team manager Tomas Reis, and both were told the player was not available.

Saturday first

None of this changes the immediate task. Polaris Black play the Winter Circuit grand final on Saturday at 20:00 CET in Halle 7, against the only team to beat them twice this season. A win would be the division’s second circuit title and the org’s eleventh trophy overall.

“It is a nice week to have signed,” Hexa said. “It would be a better week to win.”
