The Meridian Foundation’s walking football sessions run every Tuesday at 10:00 at the Fairlow training ground, free of charge and open to anyone over 55. No experience, and no kit beyond a pair of trainers, is needed.

Sessions last an hour and are run by Foundation coaches with a qualified first-aider present. The dome means they go ahead in any weather.

What to expect

  • A gentle warm-up, then small-sided games with no running and no contact.
  • Tea and coffee in the dome cafe afterwards.
  • Transport from Meridian Central on the Foundation minibus, on request.

“Half of the people who come have not kicked a ball in forty years. Within a month they are arguing about offside.”

Yusuf Karim, Foundation director

How to join

Just turn up on a Tuesday, or register on the Foundation pages so a coach can expect you. Family members are welcome to watch from the gallery.
