  1. 1904

    Founded by the rail yards

    Formed as Meridian Athletic by workers at the Kingsway depot, playing on a field beside the sheds.
  2. 1911

    First silverware

    The Borough Charity Cup, won in front of a reported four thousand people.
  3. 1919

    Claret and professionalism

    Claret adopted as the first-choice colour, matching the city livery, and the club turns professional.
  4. 1928

    Kingsway Park opens

    Opened with a friendly against a touring Scottish side in front of fourteen thousand people.
  5. 1932

    Promoted as champions

    The Second Division title and a first season in the top flight.
  6. 1946

    Football returns

    Kingsway Park reopens after wartime requisition, with the west terrace rebuilt by volunteers.
  7. 1954

    Champions of England

    First division title, won on the final day with a 2-1 victory at Northvale.
  8. 1954

    Record crowd

    24,180 pack Kingsway Park for the title decider against Ashford City.
  9. 1967

    League Cup winners

    A 3-1 replay win over Rivermouth at a neutral ground after a goalless final.
  10. 1972

    Navy on the away shirt

    Midnight navy appears on the away shirt for the first time, and stays.
  11. 1981

    The floodlight fire

    The west stand roof is destroyed between seasons; the club plays six home matches at Rivermouth.
  12. 1988

    A second title

    A second league championship, thirty-four years after the first, with fourteen wins in the last seventeen matches.
  13. 1989

    Europe

    A first European campaign, ending in the second round against the eventual finalists.
  14. 1991

    The cup again

    A second League Cup, won 2-0 with both goals from Ray Tolliver.
  15. 2004

    The academy opens

    The centenary season. Fairlow opens as the club’s academy and the founding year returns to the crest.
  16. 2015

    Regional Shield

    A young side wins the Shield with seven academy graduates in the starting eleven.
  17. 2019

    A third title

    Eleven academy graduates feature across the season as the club wins the league for a third time.
  18. 2022

    The redevelopment begins

    A four-year rebuild of Kingsway Park starts with the south terrace.
  19. 2026

    The east stand reopens

    Capacity reaches 16,400 in September, the highest in the club’s history.
