Reaction time is a fraction of it. Shin angle is the rest. Starting blocks: the first three steps, frame by frame.
Frame one: the set
Hips above the shoulders, front shin at forty-five degrees, weight forward until the hands are carrying more than feels stable.

Frames two and three
The first step lands under the hips, not in front of them. The second is longer. By the third the shin angle has opened past sixty degrees and the sprinter is running, not climbing.
- Reaction time, elite average: 0.145s.
- Time to third step: 0.62s.
- Difference between first and eighth at 10m: 0.09s.
