A green line on the kerb has changed how the last ten kilometres are run. Pacing lights are rewriting the marathon, one lap at a time.
What they do
A strip of lights along the course moves at record pace. Stay with the green and you are on schedule; fall behind it and everyone watching knows.

What they change
- Even splits: the last 10km is now within 1% of the first, down from 4%.
- Fewer surges: the tactical marathon is disappearing from the elite race.
- More records: eleven national marks in a season, on lit courses.
