The big stays home, the guard goes under, and the weak-side shooter has all night. Ridgeway’s drop coverage is sound in theory and leaking from the corner in practice.
The rotation that is not happening
Drop coverage asks the low man to take the roller and the next defender to close to the corner. The Rooks’ low man is taking the roller. Nobody is closing to the corner.

The fix nobody wants
Switching. It costs the Rooks the rebounding edge that got them promoted, and the coaching staff have said in as many words that they would rather give up a corner three than a second chance.
Every scheme gives something up. Ours gives up the thing we are worst at closing.
