WHAT HAPPENS<\/p>

Ninety minutes, in six parts<\/em><\/h2>

The same shape for a six-year-old and a county player. Only the level of the drills changes.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Twenty minutes of rallying<\/h3>

The coach feeds nothing. We want to see how a player behaves in a live rally, not how they look against a basket.<\/p><\/div>

Forehand, backhand, serve, return and volley, each looked at against the syllabus checkpoints for that age.<\/p><\/div>

Fifteen minutes of footwork and change of direction, watched by the S&C coach for squad and elite trials.<\/p><\/div>

A drill deliberately pitched above the player\u2019s level. How they respond to it tells us more than the strokes do.<\/p><\/div>

Every trial is discussed at the Monday coaching meeting, so the placement is a team decision rather than one coach\u2019s view.<\/p><\/div>

Written assessment<\/h3>

You receive a written assessment within a week: technical notes stroke by stroke, a physical screen, and the group we recommend.<\/p><\/div>

04<\/span>

Offer and start date<\/h3>

A place is offered with a schedule, a fee and a start date. There is no obligation and no deadline pressure.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

WHAT TO BRING<\/p>

Almost nothing<\/em><\/h2>
<\/use><\/svg>Trainers with a flat sole<\/span>No studs or running spikes. Clay courts need a flat tread.<\/span><\/span><\/div>
<\/use><\/svg>Water bottle<\/span>Refill points on court and in the clubhouse.<\/span><\/span><\/div>
<\/use><\/svg>A racket, if they have one<\/span>If not, say so on the form and one will be waiting at the desk.<\/span><\/span><\/div>
<\/use><\/svg>Whatever they train in<\/span>No academy kit is needed, then or later.<\/span><\/span><\/div>
